Fred Silva was born and raised in Hilo, HI.
He is a Lifeguard with the County of Hawaii and trained with the American Red Cross to teach swim instruction (Water Safety Instruction), Lifeguard / First Aid Instruction and CPR / AED Instruction.
He loves the water, swimming and surfing. He can usually be found running or surfing and loves being active in any aquatics environment.
Malia Silva was born in Honolulu, HI. Her family moved to the mainland when she was 3 yrs old. She was raised in Olympia, WA before going off to college and graduate school on the east coast.
She is a Licensed professional Architect. She only realized after finishing her education that her passion was health, swimming and teaching. She had returned to school to change professions, and received her RN License in the Summer of 2014. She is currently taking a break from swim instructing and pursuing her nursing degree she is trained with the American Red Cross to teach swim instruction (Water Safety Instruction), Lifeguard / First Aid Instruction and CPR / AED Instruction.
Malia started the swim business with 2 clients back in 2002 after moving to Kona. She had taught ever since with great success. Fred joined forces with her when they met in 2009. They were married in 2011, and continue teaching with great success. They make a great pair and have a successful family business, when Malia settles in with her nursing field she hopes to start back up with swim lessons!
